Orono Reverses Previous Action on RSU

This was part of the agenda Tuesday evening, and when it was over, the Orono School Committee voted to go with the Orono-Veazie-Glenburn configuration, rather than the Orono-Old Town-Union 90 group it had earlier approved.


This reverses their vote of November 29 to accept the larger RSU.

It will be interesting to see whether Augusta accepts the revised plan.

There was a tremendous amount of community involvement in this reversal. with a petition drive (400 signatures), significant public presence at and participation in School Committee and RPC meetings, and a lively discussion both on the streets of Orono and online.
