In the night...

the deed was done.

In the folk song Old Riley, the daughter gives up her virtue to the judge, the judge neglects to give the order to the hangman, and dawn reveals Riley hanging dead on the scaffold.

Whatever the behind-closed-door maneuvering, and as ugly as it was, school consolidation is now more than politics; it's a fact that must be dealt with.

Features of the bill are coming out, and will be reported soon.

Here's what we know so far:
  • There will be local votes on consolidation.
  • Districts can "opt out," with severe financial disincentives.
  • July 1, 2008 is still the date.
In the new version of musical chairs, each chair will be filled with multiple partners. Districts all around you have been creating collaboratives and regional partnerships.

Who are you inviting to the dance?

Look to Voters of RSU 18 for future consolidation news.
