Newsiness

We've lately gathered a number of short items that may be of interest.

  • An agenda for this Wednesday's special board meeting was posted here at the District site on Saturday. Didn't know there was a meeting coming up? No one but the insiders knew. Not to worry, though, it's just routine. $13 million dollars routine. As the saying goes, a mere bag of shells!

  • According to the May 14 Piscataquis Observer, the SAD 68 (Dover-Foxcroft) Board
voted to make the vacancy for the superintendent position at 60 percent for a one-year interim position instead of the full-time position that had been advertised. ... The change was made because the board of directors is unsure how the superintendent's position will be impacted by school consolidation over the next few years, and did not want to hire a superintendent and have them sign a multiple-year contract and then have the position phased out.
This seems so obvious that one wonders why such an approach to a superintendent's contract is even treated as news!

  • In the same issue of the Observer is an account of the May 7th SAD 46 Board meeting. It was decided to join the Piscataquis Valley Adult Education Cooperative. The Adult Education Director's position will be eliminated.
Regan [PVAEC director] feels SAD 46 could save upwards of $1200.
    Now we're talking real money!
