Oh Brave New World!

Here's the draft school consolidation document (60 pages, 4.2M pdf) as passed by the Appropriations Committee late Wednesday night. The full legislature is expected to take up the budget, including this plan, on Monday.

Excerpts of articles on the most recent, and next, part of the legislative process are here at Articles.

Meanwhile, commenting on the plan a few days ago, SAD 48 Superintendent William Braun said, "If I had to pick a partner, I certainly would have chosen SAD 53 [Pittsfield] or 46."*

Over the last few years, SADs 4, 68, and 41 have created a Tri-County Collaborative regional adult education program. They have also created the Tri-County Collaborative regional special education services.

If you had to pick a partner -- and you do -- who would you pick? Some area superintendents have exhibited vision in providing regional services. Since there will be fewer superintendents in the future, shouldn't one with vision be leading?
