Our statement of principles: Where We Stand

Susan Loves Us, Loves Us Not, Loves Us, Loves Us Not...

and so on, ad infinitum.

On Thursday, the State Department of Education released the letters sent in response to the Notices of Intent. You can see them here.

For SAD 46, it is a mixed bag. There are three categories: Complies; Complies, with Request for Continued Exploration (Don't you love Ed-Speak?) ; and Does Not Comply, With Recommendations.

SAD 46 did not earn a simple "Complies." We received one "Complies, with Request" and two "Does Not Comply".

In the latter category, the disqualifications were for two different reasons; one proposal "does not meet the minimum resident student enrollment of at least 2,500." The other "was not reciprocated by all or some units listed." It's so sad when one you love doesn't love you.

You remember the SAD 46 proposals? We posted them here.

We presume that "does not meet the minimum resident student enrollment of at least 2,500" applies to both proposals 1 (SAD 4, Harmony, Willimantic) and 2 (SAD 64) since their total enrollments (for 2006, according to these DOE figures) are 1926 and 2303, respectively.

SAD 46's third proposal, to SAD 48, was not reciprocated (sob!).

This leaves proposal 4, "SAD 4/SAD 41/SAD 46/SAD 68/
Harmony/Willimantic/Bowerbank/Lakeview/Medford/Greenville/
Shirley/Kingsbury/Beaver Cove" as perhaps needing just a dite more work!

Oh, here are the letters. As always, click on the page images to enlarge.

Gosh! Does this mean SAD #46 "does not meet the standard"?
