No News == No Noose?
Forgive the cuteness of the title.
The point? Why would anyone think that withholding information is: smart, helpful, democratic, or American?
Look at the new school effort. Take a look at http://www.newschoolproject.info/ and its associated pages. The only thing up to date here is the site work photos, which -- unfortunately -- are not worth a thousand words!
It's labeled "February", the "Update" is from December, and every other dependent page is old, old, old.
Here's what's even more important than all of this staleness. There are some potent rumors about trouble on the building site.
There's another about potentially costly access issues.
There's a litigation issue, about which the Board has had three executive sessions (2/6, 3/5, 4/2). 1 M.R.S.A. § 405(6) (E) indeed!
About all of these...silence!
The New School web site can remain as fusty as Mrs. Havisham's rooms, dessicated cake and all, if the District so chooses. It's unfortunate, to be sure, but hardly surprising. The public relations effort, and the pose of keeping the public informed, lasted only until a positive vote was gotten. Odious, but predictable.
What's less tolerable is the deliberate hiding of information the public should expect to be freely and openly shared.
Be sure to ask your representatives when you see them! They're listed on the District's web site, if you can stand the excitement of visiting it!
