Sticker Shock!

We've probably all seen this bumper sticker that began showing up a few years ago:

I can't say what image comes to your mind, but it has always seemed to me vaguely suggestive of something as futile and flaky as Allen Ginsberg's 1967 attempt to, with others, levitate the Pentagon.

In any case, it probably wasn't too much later that some gentle soul came up with this idea, poking fun at the first sticker with another, this homonym:

Anyone who has worked at feeding a young baby its first solid foods can (alas!) visualize whirled peas!

Not long ago I began seeing this one. In fact there's one on a student car at the High School.

It embodies a somewhat harsher brand of humor than that displayed in the whirled peas sticker, but it nevertheless attempts to poke fun.

In that spirit, and against the background of the school consolidation push in Maine, and also, we hope, with the understanding that there are some fine superintendents that we've known, we offer this:
