#46 RPC Chooses #4, Harmony, Willimantic

35 representatives from SADs 4 (Guilford) and 46 and from Harmony and Willimantic met for two hours last evening at Dexter Regional High School in the initial meeting of this particular combination of entities. They agreed to meet again, next Monday (the 12th) at 6:30 at the Harmony School. In the meantime, the superintendents involved will put together data for the sub-committees to consider.

After this meeting, the SAD 46 RPC met and agreed to recommend to the SAD 46 School Board, meeting on Wednesday, that they continue to pursue formation of an RSU with SAD 4, Harmony, and Willimantic. This proposal was formulated after a weighing of the pros and cons of other possible arrangements, such as continued involvement with the (larger) RSU 18 or an alliance with SAD 64 (Corinth).

A public hearing will be held on this proposal in late November.
