AY(yu)P: Reading on the Rocks
Read into it what you will, but the State Department of Education has released the annual AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) list, as required under the No Child Left Behind Act. Click here for the list.
On the list you'll see that the District's elementary schools and Dexter Middle School made AYP. Dexter Regional High School made AYP in mathematics, but not in reading. For reading the school is now on "monitor" status.
Here's a chart for some area high schools, extracted from the larger list. You'll notice that a number of high schools did not make AYP in reading. More on this tomorrow.
