New Poll: pre-K or no pre-K?
Welcome to our second poll, now up and running at the upper left. It'll be there until Sunday at 9 pm. We'll report the results next Monday morning.
At times the new school project has been spoken of as a pre-K-8 building (pre-K being "pre-kindergarten," most commonly a half-day program for 4-year olds). Mostly of late it's been spoken of as a K-8 building. We're not quite sure what may in fact be intended.
Certainly, a number of Maine districts have been discussing pre-K programs, with communities deciding the question in a variety of different ways.
The way we've posed the question is to ask whether you think such a program should exist, and if you feel it should, whether it should be centralized, or "closer to home," that is, in each community. Others may feel that such a program is beyond their idea of a "free and appropriate" education.
Vote only once, but you're welcome to view the poll at any time!
