Mark Your Calendar: Here's When __It Happens!

Psssst!

At the Special Board Meeting last night (Wednesday), the following meeting dates were not announced.

Nevertheless, your intrepid reporters have been able to piece together the following dates and times, which we believe to be accurate. They'll be updated as necessary.

These events all pertain to the selection of a site for the new school.

Public informational meetings about the new school site:
  • Tuesday July 18th 7 pm, Garland Elementary School
  • Thursday July 20th 7 pm, Dexter Middle School
Leading to the "Straw Vote" meeting on the site:
  • Thursday July 27th 7 pm, Dexter Middle School
All of these are, in turn, leading up to the meeting of the:
  • State Board of Education, Augusta, August 9th
A positive "straw vote" is needed to get State Board approval to advance into the next stage of the project. A negative "straw vote," on the other hand, would send the District "back to the drawing board."

These dates were decided upon, apparently, Tuesday night, at the Facilities Committee meeting.

Why weren't they announced last night? Maybe they want to hire a publicist before notifying the voters of the dates. Maybe they don't care what we want anyway. Perhaps they want to get the budget business out of the way first. They might not want to "confuse" the public with two -- count 'em, two -- issues active at the same time.

Wonder how many toppings they order on their pizza?

Updated calendar here.
