A recent article in the Ellsworth paper ("Hancock-Ellsworth Idea Not Backed by State") points to a different approach by the locals in dealing with the State Department of Education.
They broached a kind of consolidation that didn't fit in with the State's plans and got turned down flat.
"Turns out they really don't want to hear that," said Superintendent Hackett, adding that although the State pushes consolidation, "apparently they don't want to pay for consolidation."
Despite the turn-down of the possible consolidation, the Superintendent is going ahead with other possible options -- three so far.
