Per-Pupil Costs, Again

The "hack" that we use to feature recent comments in the left sidebar has one significant known flaw: it only picks up comments on posts on the present top (displayed) page of the site. Comments on old posts, while they show up attached to the relevant post, don't show up in the "Recent Comments" section, which functions as a shortcut to comment activity.

A comment (here) came in yesterday that may be worthy of some attention. It points to an article in the Ellsworth American discussing factors creating differences in districts' per-pupil costs. On our site there were a string of comments trying to compare area districts' per-pupil costs, while trying to factor out the effect of the Tech Center.
