That Old Familiar Theme!

Minutes of the June 14 and June 21 Board meetings, approved, with corrections, at the July 5th Board meeting, are now posted -- as of July 28!

You'll be seeing them in an old familiar place -- here!

But wait! These minutes aren't correct! They don't portray what actually happened. They don't authorize the District Budget Meeting of June 29*! I wonder if these are "official," or will the excuse be that an earlier draft was posted.....again. Besides that, where does the buck stop anyway?

I wonder if the Budget Meeting therefore lacks legal authority, since there's no record of the Board authorizing it?

For the record, the Superintendent is the secretary for Board meetings.

Why is this such a familiar theme?

That song keeps running through my head:

*This discrepancy was pointed out at the July 5 School Board meeting, when these minutes came up for approval. The error seemed to have been duly noted then.

Update 8/7: Amended minutes posted today, with Item B now reading, correctly:

B. Computation and Declaration of Votes (Budget Referendum)
Steven Crane moved that the Computation and Declaration of Votes dated June 14, 2006 and attached hereto be and it is hereby approved and that the two remaining articles which did not pass, Question 6-Board of Directors Expenses and Question 7-Principals Expenses be decided at a District Budget Meeting to be held on June 29, 2007 at Dexter Regional High School at 7:00 PM. Seconded by Sherree Mitchell. The motion was unanimously approved.
