Waiting for Somebody to Call You?

"All I know is what I read in the papers." So said Will Rogers.

If you read the papers you've probably noticed that quite a few districts are working on reorganization (consolidation).
  • "Reorganization planning committee to be formed in school districts 23 & 38" 7/2, Rolling Thunder
  • [Corinth]"SAD 64 forum features Q & A on consolidation" 7/3, Bangor Daily News
  • "SAD 63, CSD 8 choose consolidation panel" 7/4, Bangor Daily News
  • [Brewer]"Superintendent: Take time on changes" 7/10, Bangor Daily News
  • [Orono]"Area schools get jump on consolidation plan" 7/12, Bangor Daily News
  • "SAD 23, 38 to create reorganization group" 7/13 , Bangor Daily News
  • [Hermon]"School panel to form to discuss consolidation" 7/13, Bangor Daily News
  • "SAD 63 panel sets public meeting" 7/13 , Bangor Daily News
It certainly seems as though there's a lot of activity.

In other districts, panels are being named -- the Reorganization Planning Committees we referred to here -- and that are referenced in the law, summarized here. They're an essential part of the process, and required.

The DOE guidelines for these committees state:

1. Required Representation:

A. Representatives of SAUs included in Notice of Intent.
B. Representatives of member municipalities who are residents of the proposed Regional School Unit (RSU).
C. Members of general public who are residents of the proposed RSU.
and:
3. Convening the Reorganization Planning Committee

Recommended: Convene an initial meeting no later than mid-July.

Have you seen any signs of this kind of activity in SAD 46?

Some districts have met with the public, to keep them informed, to get them involved, to hear what they have to say.

Unfortunately, we've not yet heard from our district. Perhaps our district doesn't want to hear from you either!

Where is SAD 46? Let us know if you hear anything!

Why don't you call the super's office to find out? Can't it be that simple, if you want to find out info?
