Page 3 of the ED281

Moving into the home stretch now, folks! Don't lose hope!

This page, entitled "Computation of Unit Allocation to Fund Public Schools", is a continuation of page two.

Here are "Other Subsidizable Costs" "Debt Service Allocations" (not a big issue --yet -- for SAD 46), and "Local Contribution Calculation."
First let's look at "Other Subsidizable Costs." Included here are:

Gifted and Talented 0
Special Education $1,028,376
Vocational Education $637,709
Transportation $468,716
Transportation (Bus Purchases) $81,058

Taken all together, these "Total Other Subsidizable Costs" are $2,215,861.

Three of these six categories are a staggered reimbursement from earlier fiscal years:
Gifted and Talented is for 05-06 (but is not applicable to SAD 46)
Vocational Education is reimbursement for 05-06
Transportation (Bus Purchases) is reimbursement for 06-07

Two of these categories are also, as with System Administration and Operations & Maintenance from page one, to be cut 5 % in the next budget. These add an additional $74,855 to be cut, bringing the total to $146,003 (71,148 + $74,855).

The "Total Other Subsidizable Costs" is added to the "Adjusted Total Operating Allocation" to create the "Total Operating Allocation And Other Subsidizable Costs" of $8,285,185.

Let's go to the "Local Contribution Calculation -- Mill Expectation".

Here, the state valuation for each town is used with the current "Mill Expectation" of 7.44 mills to arrive at the Local Contribution for each town. On the left side of this table, the average number of students from each town, and each town's percentage of the District's students is presented. On the right side, each town's percentage of the District's valuation is resented.

Thus,
Dexter has 62.62% of the students and 58.9% of the valuation.
Exeter has 14.71% of the students and 15.69% of the valuation.
Garland has 17.66% of the students and 14.9% of the valuation.
Ripley has 5.01% of the students and 10.51% of the valuation.

Next post: We will bury you (in numbers)!
