Carnival Today!

Hurry! Hurry! Hurry!

We suggest today, for your reading and contemplation, the varied topics and viewpoints made available at The Carnival of Education. Perhaps you aren't familiar with the "carnival" concept on the web? It's a movable feast of links related to a certain broad theme, presented at shifting sites on a more or less regular basis.

By way of illustration, here are are a few eye-catching items from the current edition:

  • Principled Discovery notes that school is safer than home, and has Bureau of Justice stats to prove it.
  • The illustrious Education Wonks write that US students aren't comparing well with others. It ain't pretty.
  • Going to the Mat says "Public Education Is A Business Deal -- Parents Are Becoming Better Consumers."
One way to find carnivals of interest is through Blog Carnival, an aggregator of carnivals. They define a carnival as "where someone takes the time to find really good blog posts on a given topic, and then puts all those posts together in a blog post called a "carnival"." Using Blog Carnival's Index, you can browse the "education" category by clicking here.

Here's another carnival that might be of interest: School Politics and Philosophy

We're all in the same boat ready to float off the edge of the world
The flat old world

The street is a sideshow from the peddler to the corner girl
Life is a carnival--it's in the book
Life is a carnival--take another look
