"No plot. No ulterior motives. Simple Maine Weather."

The following letter appears in yesterday's issue of the Eastern Gazette. The "most recent letter" referred to was republished here.

To the Editor:

I find it very sad that when it comes to the issue of the new school project for SAD #46, it seems that Art Jette lives in a world peopled by elaborate conspiracy theories and plots to undermine the rights of voters. Mr. Jette has served his community for many years and was known for much of that time a supportive friend of education. In his most recent letter, he raises a random comment made by some board member several years ago to the level of a quote to support the theory that there is an insidious plot behind the February date for the new school referendum,. Shame on him! I am sure he made casual comments in board meetings that he would not want to see highlighted as quotes in editorials! And with all the important business going on in a board meeting, whop takes notes that even include the side comments of other board members? Talk about conspiracy!

The reason for the February referendum is simple: we live in Maine! If the project is approved, we gain three valuable months of construction time that would be lost by waiting until June. That's it! The ground will freeze in the fall and the work can't get done. No plot. No ulterior motives. Simple Maine Weather.
It's time to stop sowing seeds of division and move on toward unity among SAD #46 communities.

Sincerely,

Carol Sherburne
Dexter

Seems if it's too cold for construction, it'll be too cold for sowing any kind of seeds won't it?

Are you people really that dense? The reason for having the vote early, as the letter said, is to start construction in June not the fall. Sorry if this didn't come through in Carol's letter. I thought it was clear. The construction crew has to make bids on the project first before they can start. The early vote allows this process to happen. If people would go to the meetings they would understand this. Sorry I don't have a blog and don't wish to have one so I guess I have to sign with anonymous.........

Hey anonymous, are you Carol or do you know more about what she intended to say than she does?

After reading Mrs.Sherburnes letter, I'm left with the impression that if she cannot be a "clear and effective communicator", how can she succeed teaching students language arts skills.
Her remarks about Mr. Jette and his earlier service make me wonder if she still has sour grapes over the last teacher contract negotiations.

That last comment is totally uncalled for.

If you dont have the guts to identify yourself, that puts Carol Sherburne several steps above you.
