Some of the tasty bits...

from the School Board meeting on Wednesday evening:

  • Tim McCluskey, Dexter Primary School principal, is leaving to become principal at Bangor's Vine Street School.
  • A salary package of $1,052,000 for non-represented emp[loyees (administrators) was proposed and approved.
  • The new school's gym will be called the Bill and Joan Alfond Gymnasium. The fitness center will be called the Plummer Memorial Foundation Fitness Center.
  • The High School Assistant Principal/Athletic Director position may be split into two positions, the Assistant Principal being full-time, with the AD position stipended. The vote on Wednesday enabled this as an option.
  • Jill Jones has been appointed by the Dexter Town Council to fill the position vacated by Shawn Lancaster.
  • The Pine Street entrance reconstruction contract had only one bidder. The work will be done this month, with funds coming from this (current) year's capital outlay funds.
  • The Bond Anticipation Note being approved next week in a Special Board Meeting meeting is for about $1.5 million, to fund the project until next spring, when it will be funded by the State. A question was raised about the District's responsibility for interest on this note. The Superintendent will look into it.
  • The District will close on the three parcels of land for the new school on July 3.
  • The unannounced sub-committee meetings were reported on. They're talking about stuff. There will be more, generally on Thursdays.
  • The Board will hold a Board workshop on June 26 (7 pm, DRHS ATM Room), the day before the state-run meeting, to discuss consolidation.
Yumm!

There's more, but you'll get the report from the District, probably about July 6. In the meantime, if you know an insider, just ask!
