New Poll: Re-Use Abbott Hill Site?

In discussions about the projected new school, one question surfaces repeatedly: Why not put it on the "Hill"? As recent comments here show, there continues to be at least some interest in discussing this location.

The School Board and more than one superintendent have tried to address this issue, at least "internally," but, arguably, have done a poor job of convincing the public of their view.

Their view, to be fair, goes something like this: Yes it's possible to build on the Hill. However, there are logistical problems in construction, in access (this may be fatal, as far as State support is concerned), and we then will be committed to using a very cramped space, with limited space for proximate sports fields, for instance.

Others, however, contend that the Hill makes sense for all kinds of reasons. These include the ability of students to walk to school, for parents, one-stop dropoff and pickup of kids in multiple schools, concentration of infrastructure, tradition, and so on.

In any case, the questions about the Hill seem to persist.

This week's poll allows you to express your opinion!
