"Ripley?" What's a "Ripley?"

Worth noting in Walter Griffin's Bangor Daily News article on the State Board's approval of the New School Concept Design was this opening sentence:
The State Board of Education gave its unanimous approval Tuesday to a proposed $30.5 million consolidated school for Dexter, Exeter and Garland.
Where did Ripley go?

I was reminded of Ripley's omission when I saw the Agenda for Wednesday's Board Meeting (posted here Wednesday afternoon-- thanks!). In listing forthcoming "Public Hearings" (also listed at the New School Project site here) we see that Ripley isn't having such a meeting.

Is this the sort of treatment that Garland and Exeter can expect once they no longer have schools?

It begins to look as though if you don't have an active school in your town you're just about invisible!

A reader has sent me a correction to this post:

I just thought that you should know that the school board asked the town of Ripley if they would like a public hearing scheduled in their town. The Town officials turned down the opportunity, feeling that such a meeting was not needed. I just though that you should know that they WERE considered for a public meeting, and that they WERE asked, they decided not to have one held in their town. Not the school board.

I stand corrected. Thanks!
