Wonder, Boys!

It was a very exciting meeting last night, wonderful really.

Wonderful, that is, in the sense that parts just amazed this observer, and filled him with wonder!

Nevertheless, here's some developments that might interest, if not amaze, you:
  • Secret Meetings: Two sub-committees of the New School Project effort met within the last month, the Athletic Fields and Grounds Sub-Committee on April 11, and the Mechanical Systems Sub-Committee on Tuesday, May 1. You'll not see these meetings listed or announced anywhere; they're not in the Board Agendas, nor are they listed at the New School Sub-Committee Meeting Schedule page (last updated March 6). Not surprisingly, you won't find the agendas for these meetings here. Now that voters have approved the project, there's no need to provide any information about it!
  • One of the seventeen first-year teachers on the agenda to be approved for a second year has resigned. This is the high school physics position that has been hard to fill
  • The high school's Assistant Principal & Athletic Director has resigned.
  • The architect was renewed.
  • There's a proposal to name the gym in the new school for William and Joan Alfond.
  • The high school placed in the top third of Maine high schools relative to No Child Left Behind Adequate Yearly Progress status. Kudos all around.
  • The Superintendent suggested that it's time to start discussing regionalization locally. This is to say, MSAD #46 needs to start looking for a partner!

Wallflower, wallflower
Won't you dance with me?
I'm sad and lonely too.
Wallflower, wallflower
Won't you dance with me?
I'm fallin' in love with you.

Just like you I'm wondrin' what I'm doin' here.
Just like you I'm wondrin' what's goin' on.

I think that it is only fair to name the new school gym after the folks who are paying for it.
Maine Taxpayers Gymnasium!
It has a nice ring to the name too.
Put an appropriate plaque to acknowledge the Alfond additional space, but don't give them credit for a gym they didn't build.
